Autumn Wellness Tips: Stay Healthy as the Seasons Change

Right back to autumn ...


As the weather shifts and the mornings get darker, it’s easy to feel a dip in energy or start worrying about the common colds and bugs that come with autumn. But fear not! With a few simple habits, you can optimise your health and stay energised throughout the season. Here are some autumn wellness tips to help keep those bugs at bay and maintain your wellbeing.

 

1) Start Your Day with a Hydrating Boost 

The dark, chilly mornings can make it hard to get going, but one of the best ways to kickstart your energy is by rehydrating as soon as you wake up. Try a glass of water with a squeeze of fresh lemon and a pinch of Celtic sea salt. This not only helps rehydrate you after sleep but also replenishes lost electrolytes as Celtic sea salt is rich in minerals such as zinc, magnesium, sodium, iron, and potassium, making it a fantastic tool for rehydration

 

Pressed for time? Prep a batch of lemon juice and fresh ginger and freeze them in ice cube trays. Pop a cube into your morning water, and you’ll have a refreshing drink ready in seconds!

 

2) Embrace Seasonal Eating 

Autumn brings an abundance of nutritious, seasonal British produce. Visit your local farmers' market, greengrocer, or supermarket to find what's in season. Eating seasonal foods supports local farmers and ensures you’re consuming fresh, nutrient-dense ingredients that haven’t been flown half way around the world. Think root vegetables, apples, squash, and leafy greens.

 

3) Stay Hydrated, Even in Cooler Weather 

While it’s easy to keep up with your water intake during the summer, staying hydrated in autumn is just as crucial. Even a small drop in hydration can affect brain function, energy levels, and your immune system. Keep a water bottle nearby and aim to drink consistently throughout the day. Add a herbal tea to your routine for an extra hydration boost.

 

4) Don’t Forget Your Vitamin D 

With shorter, darker days, it’s harder to get enough vitamin D from sunlight alone, which is essential for immune function and mood regulation. 5) Cook with Ease Using a Slow Cooker 

Autumn is the perfect time to bring out the slow cooker. It’s an effortless way to prepare healthy, nourishing meals that are packed with flavour. Throw in some seasonal veg, beans, or lean protein, and come home to a warm, comforting dinner with minimal effort.
