How to enjoy Easter and stay on track with your goals

Easter can feel like a challenge –  chocolate, hot cross buns, big lunches, and eating out with friends or family.

And if you’re trying to lose or maintain weight, it can leave you feeling like you’ve taken a big step backwards.

But here’s the truth:

You can enjoy the celebrations without guilt, without overeating – and without falling into the all-or-nothing trap.

Here are 5 tips I share with my clients to help them feel calm, in control, and still enjoy the Easter weekend – especially if they’re heading out.

1. Hydrate before you go

It’s a simple shift, but it works. Even slight dehydration can make you feel hungrier, foggier, and more likely to graze.

👉 Drink a glass of water or herbal tea before you head out.

2. Don’t arrive starving  – eat a protein-based snack beforehand

Waiting until the event to eat often leads to arriving ravenous… and inhaling the buffet!

👉 Try a protein smoothie, Greek yoghurt with berries, or boiled eggs with a few oatcakes. It steadies blood sugar and hunger hormones – and helps prevent overeating.

3. Do a quick “scan and plan”

Before you load your plate, take a minute to look at what’s on offer.

👉 Pick 1–2 things you really love, then build your plate around protein, veg, and some carbs. You’ll feel more satisfied – without the crash later.

4. Be mindful with alcohol

Alcohol lowers inhibitions around food and increases hunger.

👉 Alternate each drink with water, or opt for a wine spritzer or mocktail. Even better – take your own if you’re unsure what’ll be on offer.

5. Don’t turn one meal into the whole weekend

A single indulgent meal won’t undo your progress.

👉 The next day, simply return to your usual habits: hydration, movement, and a nourishing meal. That’s how consistency is built.

These mindset and food shifts help my clients feel more energised, empowered, and in control – without restriction.

Enjoy your Easter 💛
